Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been released and is now out of contract after his current German club Wolfsburg terminated the Dane's contract due to several behavioral issues.

Nicklas Bendtner has had his contract terminated by Wolfsburg.
Bendtner, whose last game for the club was in February, was banned from first team training in March due to various disciplinary issues, one of them which included coming late for training.

It seems the management of Wolfsburg is frustrated with the actions of the Dane and have thereby released the 28 year old.

The Dane had appeared for around 47 games for the German club after joining them from Arsenal in 2014.

The striker had scored around 9 goals for the club. Sporting Director Klaus Allofs stated that they had high hopes from the Danish International but the forward has failed in his expectations. He felt that the association was no more useful for the club and thereby the management has taken this decision.

It was reported that Bendtner was disappointed with the current decision, one which was obviously expected.

The match between Wolfsburg and United had a huge importance from the point of view of LVG's career at United. It was not the most decisive one but certainly would play a part in understanding whether Van Gaal was the man to take United forward in the coming years. The talks of LVG extending his contract beyond 2017 would surely die down after the result at Wolfsburg.

Manchester United team during their game against Wolfsburg last night
The match was one of the most entertaining games that one has witnessed in the Champions League this year. It started at a great pace with both Schurrle and Mata, with the former in particular, having a great chance to take the lead. At times, it looked like a basketball game with both the teams having chances at either ends.

However, it was United who took the lead through Martial who finished an excellent incisive pass from Mata. The goal was a not a result of passing the ball around like LVG usually prefers but quick and direct play. It showed that the manager had changed the system and finally United were more exciting. However, may be there is a reason LVG does not prefer his team to play that way.

Wolfsburg quickly equalized through a free kick and later took the lead by an excellent play by Draxler who just opened up the United defence with ease. It was just a simple tap-in for Vierinha, but the fact that Draxler was allowed to enter the box with so much ease surely might have angered LVG.

Manchester United fans react to Champions League exit
Suddenly it felt that United could only qualify if PSV lose their game against CSKA Moscow. They came out strong in the second half but again failed to take their chances. However, the equalizer did come late in the game through an own goal and United might have felt they have just done enough.

But like the earlier goal, they conceded again through a set piece and it did look like Wolfsburg just handed their Europa League ticket. The final nail in the coffin was the victory of PSV which meant United had to win this match to get through. With a dire draw against West Ham followed by a defeat of this stature, LVG has a tough task ahead. One of the striking observations that could be made was of the bench. After investing 250 million pounds in three transfer windows, one cannot expect a bench with names like Jackson and Powell in a crunch Champions League tie.

Manchester United welcome Wolfsburg to Old Trafford on Wednesday for what is sure to be an entertaining tie in the Champions league. Louis Van Gaal's men have been in good form in the past couple of games while Wolfsburg have struggled in their league after starting impressively.

Manchester United vs Wolfsburg Preview
Manchester United threw away a one goal lead against PSV in their opening game of the Champions league and would want to take all the three points when they play Wolfsburg. This is the first time that Old Trafford will be hosting aa UCL group stage fixture in over a year and United fans are already buzzing in excitement. Van Gaal's team has looked solid and comfortable, and with new signings Schweinsteiger and Martial hitting top form, they look like a different side.

Manchester United have a tie against Arsenal in the Premier league on Sunday so it will be interesting to see if Van Gaal will shuffle his pack around. United will be without injured defenders Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo but their backline has been in good form so far this campaign.

Wolfsburg started their season well and were unbeaten in their first five league games but that night at Allianz Arena where Lewandowski put in multiple goals in the Wolfsburg net with utmost ease will have drastically reduced the morale of their team. Wolfsburg followed that with a disappointing draw against Hannover and will want to respond with a good performance against Manchester United.

Wolfsburg will be hoping that Julian Draxler will be able to produce a performance in line with the big occasion. Draxler has been impressive since joining Wolfsburg in the summer and although he hasn't quite replaced De Bruyne, he has showed what he is capable of in the time he has been there. Wolfsburg will be without Luiz Gustavo who is still out with a knee problem.

Wolfsburg is low on confidence while it is the opposite at United. Normally this would be a game which United will be dominating and winning easily. But we have all seen how English clubs have struggled in the Champions league so it won't be that easy a game for United. The chances are still high that they will come out victorious. The performance of De Gea between the sticks will be crucial.

Predicted score: Manchester United 2-1 Wolfsburg

Lewandowski was the star man at Allianz Arena as he inspired Bayern Munich to come from one goal down to win the game against Wolfsburg. Lewandowski was in exceptional form as he came on as a substitute and scored five times within a space of ten minutes.

Robert Lewandowski
It was more like something out of a computer game as all the players, commentators and even the  referee stood in awe watching the Pole work his magic on the pitch. He showed exactly what a world class striker can do as he turned the game on its head.

Bayern started brightly with Douglas Costa testing Neuer from distance a couple of times in the first half. Gotze then released Muller with an exquisite pass but the German shot wide. Wolfsburg's moment came in the 26th minute when they were on the counter. Draxler found Caliguri with a wonderful lobbed pass and the midfielder took his time before volleying it over Neuer with power. Neuer could have saved it but the power and speed in the shot was too much. Neuer had a moment of madness then when he raced towards the halfway line but miscontrolled the ball and Guilavogui shot from there. He hit the post from that distance and it could have been Wolfsburg's second of the game.

Bayern needed some inspiration from somewhere and Pep put Lewandowski in and it paid off almost immediately. Thomas Muller was set up by a sweet back heel from Vidal but the German's touch wasn't good enough to control it. Lewandowski was on hand though to poke the ball past Benaglio to score his first of the game in the 51st minute.

Lewandowski scored his second, dragging the ball into the side of the net from outside the area, as he pulled a goal out of nowhere for Bayern. It was an inch perfect shot and was placed just beyond the reach of Benaglio. Gotze then set up the Pole for Lewa in a counter attack before he hit the post and somehow scrambled it past the line from the rebound thus completing his hattrick in under four minutes.

Bayern fans should be forgiven for thinking that that was all as Lewandowski had more to produce. Wolfsburg's defence was already disenchanted as they were taken apart so quickly by the striker but Dante tried his best to keep them focused and motivated.

Douglas Costa showed his pace and power to run down the left flank and cross the ball in. The cross was deflected into the path of Lewandowski for him to volley it past Benaglio. The striker saved his best for the last as he scored a sensational volleyed goal from Gotze's cross in the 60th minute to finish his say in the game.

The game was virtually finished by that point and Bayern now sit three points clear of Dortmund at the top of the table, although Dortmund have a game in hand.

Bayern Munich will face their first real test of the season when they welcome last year's runners up Wolfsburg to Allianz Arena on Tuesday night. Both teams are unbeaten in the league so far but Bayern lead Wolfsburg by four points. The German first division is expected to be more competitive than ever this season and both clubs would not want to drop points here.

Bayern Munich vs. Wolfsburg
Bayern Munich have their confidence on sky high levels after winning all their league games and also thrashing Olympiacos 3-0 in the Champions league. Bayern's main weapon will undoubtedly be Douglas Costa and the Brazilian winger already has seven assists to his name in just five league games. Bayern have a very deep squad and they have a lot of players to rotate and change their game if required. New signings from Juventus, Vidal and Coman broke their duck last week and look set to kick on their season.

Bayern will be without Robben, Ribery, Badstuber and Mehdi Benatia with all four of them out injured. But there is welcome news for the champions as Javi Martinez has returned to training following his injury lay off. Pep is unlikely to start Gotze though - the midfielder now without a Bundesliga goal in 16 games.

Wolfsburg on the other hand know that they do not need to fear the Bavarians like they used to do a couple of years back. Wolfsburg beat Bayern 4-1 in their last league clash in January before beating them on penalties again this August in the Super Cup final. All eyes will be on Dante as he returns to Allianz Arena for the first time following his move to Wolfsburg this summer.

There has been some uneasiness surrounding the situation of Bas Dost though. The striker who was an integral part of Wolfsburg's league run last season, was not happy when he was substituted off against CSKA Moscow and has been behaving poorly in training ever since. Dost scored two goals in their 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin despite not starting the match, but Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking is reportedly not happy with the striker. Wolfsburg has some fitness issues over Luiz Gustavo and Vierinha as well.

Kevin De Bruyne's departure will be a big miss for Wolfsburg and they will miss the Belgian's ability to play in such big games. Wolfsburg has strengthened their team this summer but they have always found Allianz Arena a tough place to go to. Ultimately, Bayern's supremacy will tell and we can't see an upset on the cards.

Predicted score: Bayern Munich 2-0 Wolfsburg

Nicklas Bendtner (Lord) has been at it again as the former Arsenal “superstar” creates his own graceful warm-up routine ahead of VfL Wolfsburg’s 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Nicklas Bendtner
The Danish footballer featured during the last five minutes for the Bundesliga side and maybe it was the strikers lazy warm up which led to the forward’s minimal game time.

If I was one of the 27-year-old’s teammates, I would have been pretty annoyed, but will have to admit that there is surely something mesmerising about this global icon.
