Ivory Coast International Cheik Tiote is reported to be on his way to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua. Newcastle manager McClaren has confirmed that the player has travelled to China in order to finalize the deal but the move is not yet confirmed.

Cheik Tiote
Tiote has been a key player in the midfield for Newcastle over the last few seasons and was on the radar of many top Premier league clubs after his impressive performances in the 2011-12 season. However, the arrival of Shelvey from Swansea may have paved the way for the midfielder to look out for a new challenge.

The deal is reportedly around £8 million with Tiote to receive around  £70,000 per week. Newcastle are expecting the completion of the deal would provide the necessary funds for a striker. If the deal indeed goes through, Tiote would join former Chelsea and Newcastle midfielder Demba Ba.

The Chinese club have been attracting Premier league players over the last few seasons. Chelsea legend Drogba and former France International Anelka were part of the Shanghai Shenhua setup only to see their stay at the club short lived.
