Starting 2025/26, Premier League referees will only speak to club captains during matches, mirroring UEFA competitions. This IFAB rule, aimed at reducing dissent and improving player conduct, allows captains to seek clarification on significant incidents. Other players can still interact with officials, but non-captain communication with the referee about decisions will result in yellow cards.
